When we first saw Christopher Hanrahan’s exhibition ‘Other Regular Models’ we have been completely consumed by the fragility and delicacy of each and every piece. Manufactured fully from thin strips of polished-brass, there really is no way of explaining these works other than simply lovely.

Consisting of seven sculptures, ‘Other Regular Models’ is an exhibition that plays with the notion of stillness, emptiness and the impossible pursuit of perfection. Each piece is produced from paper-thin strips of polished-brass, which have been welded collectively to create varieties mimicking that of furnishings.
Just as Hanrahan set out to attain, the actual beauty is in the imperfections. The skeletal outlines are total of character with wonky lines, untouched welded joins and unsteady kinds.
‘Other Common Models’ is Hanrahan’s fourthsolo exhibition at SarahCottierGallery and will be on show till 5 October 2013.
