Méjico Restaurant & Bar in Sydney, Australia portrays distinctive interiors by Juicy Design. Not anywhere in the restaurant is a flat-out display of a Mexican flag or papered piñata. Alternatively, the modern design of this stylish space is unthemed with a striking composition of contemporary graphics, bold hues and earthy components.
An instant stand-out are the concrete walls and exposed brickwork, both featuring mesmerizing hand-painted patterns in inky black that could be attributed to ancient Mexican culture–do we spot a touch of Aztec inspiration?
Pale timber is utilized to boost warmth and is noticed in the communal tables which consist of elongated wooden slabs resting on concrete block supports. An entire wall of banquette benches is adorned with patterned throw pillows in black and white. Tall industrial ceilings generate a spaciousness to the long and narrow restaurant, whilst oversize hand-woven basket pendants preside more than the core of the room.
What is so refreshing, although, is the restraint of much more common colors like red, green and white linked with Mexican cuisine. Alternatively, the location pops with sizzling pink set towards black like in the walls with psychedelic geometric stripes. Contemporary dining chairs alternate amongst black and this fiery neon, as do the square-topped stools. This kind of an ultra awesome, not to mention sudden, design and style contribution!
In the dining space and a culinary prep location, brick walls painted with Spanish words like “Buen dia” and “Vida” are fun, while assuming a vintage vibe. A bar resides in the rear of the restaurant, obtainable for lounging before or after dinner, whilst enjoying tequila tastings. Chili “pendants”, stacked corn and platters of limes include zest to this informal, chill zone.
Without having a sombrero in sight, Méjico Restaurant & Bar captures the essence of imaginative, contemporary restaurant design and style in a new light. And to that, we say, “Bienvenido!”
