So I’ve lastly sorted throughsome of our holiday snappies, to give you a littletourabout the JIA Shanghai this morning. A beautiful lovely minor boutiquehotel on Nanjing Road, I would actually hugely suggest a keep here if you’re ever Shanghai-bound. We arrived in the middle of a summer heatwave (which to be honest was only about half a degree hotter than a Singers August), and it was such a wonderfularea to arrive back to right after a sizzling day of sightseeing.
Andre Fu of AFSO Types is accountable for this stonking lobby area (see here for more of his handiwork) – you enter by means of an unassuming door on a side streetinto a wonderful birdcage-filled, OTT wallpaper-surrounded lift area which will take you up to the principal reception. LOVE:
Our suite was furnished in a beautiful eclectic mixture of quite masculine tones and shapes. I was loving the all-natural marble in the kitchennook, obvs.
Melbourne-based mostly BURO Architectsdeveloped all the suites and rooms – should get a gander at their portfolio when I get a spare sec.
No all-natural light in the bedroom and bathroom meant it was tricksy to get decent pics, but these fantastic exciting paper pendants aided issues…
It was one of the mostfascinatingbathrooms I’ve witnessed in a although in fact – the interplay of heavily veined marble and goldmosaictiles was pretty rad, and I reallylike me a great bathroom light fixture!
Back to Andre Fu now I consider.
These two cheeky chappies in the reception kinda freaked me out a little…pretty amazing however no? Oh ha, please excuse my crusty traveller rucksack, should have moved that. I’m not a enormous fan of purples and reds in interiors, consider they are typically quite jarring, but in a industrial setting they seem the organization.
And lastly is the restaurant/bar spot, Issimo, designed by HongKong-primarily based Darryl Goveas of Pure Innovative Global. It has a very distinct vibe to the rest of the hotel full of rusticwood, (Yet again) grey veined marble, plaid accents and far more Tom Dixon Copper Shade light fittings than you can shake a stick at. LOVE!

I have to say the services was not the very best, the reception staff absolutely allow the area down really a bit, but design-smart it genuinely was the bee’s knees. Ooh and the brekkas, they had been outstanding as well. Go keep!
